If there’s one thing we take for granted in the modern world, it’s folding chairs and tables. Inexpensive and easily stored, they’re a mainstay of our patios and decks around the globe; they’re portable, sturdy, and can transform any space into a comfortable recreation or conversation area.

When unexpected guests arrive, or you’re simply entertaining more people than usual, folding chairs provide all your guests with comfortable seating; when the punchbowl or cake is a little too large for the dining table, a folding table provides an elegant display and serving area. Within minutes, a problem is solved, and you can get back to enjoying your event.

It’s rare that we really think about these wonderfully useful tables and chairs. We take them for granted, and hardly notice that many of these wonderful pieces of furniture come from the same place: Cosco, manufacturers of folding furniture since 1941.

The sad thing however and about folding furniture is that it’s rarely replaced. We carry the same furniture from place to place, year after year, because it remains functional – the engineering and construction is of such excellence, there is rarely a need to replace it. It simply doesn’t break.

We seem to forget – or perhaps many of us never knew – that manufacturers of folding furniture are constantly innovating in design. Patterns and options aside, newer folding chairs and tables are easier both to fold and to unfold; they are safer, sturdier, more comfortable and even longer-lasting.
